I interviewed several creatives about their talents and what drives them...this is Summer's story

"What inspires your creative process?"
The 60’s/70’s and nature really inspire me. I also go through phases in my personal life that I get really excited about, like roller skating, and I usually end up drawing those things.
why did you start your creative business?
I wanted a job that I was truly passionate about. I’ve loved art my whole life and have wanted to own a creative business since high school, but never had a style that I was confident in. Almost exactly a year ago, I was really trying to find my style and had the thought to draw people with flowers behind their eyes. I was so inspired that I stayed up all night drawing!
if you could give any advice about creating or owning a business, what would it be?
Manifest the jobs and clients that you want! You definitely have to do the work too, but put that energy out into the world. I really like LaCroix and I decided to make a little illustration about it and tag the company’s account just to see what would happen. They ended up seeing that post and now I’ve been doing freelance work for them for a few months! You never know what opportunities might come with an intention that has a little bit of action behind it.
what do you love about creating?
I love making things that people can see themselves in and connect to. Creating is so personal, so when someone says that they like what you’ve made it means the world.
anything else you would like to share?
Make friends with other makers either in real life or online. There are some of the nicest people in this community and you can hype each other up! It also nice to have people who might have more experience than you to get advice from.
